57.4°F Rain returns by Monday evening! Clear and warmer the rest of the week.

57.4°F Rain returns by Monday evening! Clear and warmer the rest of the week.

Hello Friends! Warm again today. One last storm to go with the current weather pattern, and this one is the coldest and the deepest of  the bunch, pulling in some colder unstable air which should set off some t’storms over the north coast and maybe the northern Sierra. Perhaps snow at 7,000Ft? The best energy and moisture will remain well to our north again with a weak cold front sagging south…

55.3°F Showers possible tonight.. Just not much is expected. Gorgeous weekend on tap.

55.3°F Showers possible tonight.. Just not much is expected. Gorgeous weekend on tap.

Hello Friends! Rain is starting to slide south as a very weak front is swinging inland. The coastal areas to our north have been receiving the bulk of the moisture today. This is not going to a huge rain maker for us. Showers are possible after midnight and should be to our east early on Saturday. Weekend highs should remain in the upper 60s, with overnight lows in the upper 40s.  The next rain…

53.3°F Amazing seasonal weather! A few showers are possible Friday night.

Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed the warmer temps and dry conditions. Friday will start out dry, but there’s a good chance we may see a few showers overnight into Saturday morning. The lack of will be made up with the cooler temps and pretty clouds. This system is showing signs of splitting as it approaches the coast, but there should be enough moisture to squeeze out a little bit of rain here…

51.2°F We got a 0.69″ of rain in Nevada City today. Hooray! Dry and warmer on Thursday. I’ve got your weekly El Niño update.

Hello Friends! Loved the rain? I know I did and am so happy we picked up more than any of the forecasts were calling for. We received 0.69″ at NCW headquarters. I know I called for ½” of rain early on, but I had to adjust my forecast totals as the storm looked to be weakening. And no one,  I mean no one was talking about anything over a ¼” of rain last night. I loved being wrong. This is…

56.8°F Here comes the rain. Just a little, and it will be gone by mid morning.

Hello Friends! Sprinkles around but no accumulation is expected until well after midnight when a cold front is expected to push through NorCal. This storm is already falling apart as it pushes south so I’m starting to pull back my expectations to around 1/10 of an inch of rain overnight with clearing skies by early afternoon on Wednesday. The Sierra above 7,000Ft may also see a few snow…

68.4°F The wind is shifting as rain arrives late on Tuesday. Pick up the summer toys and enjoy the rain.

68.4°F The wind is shifting as rain arrives late on Tuesday. Pick up the summer toys and enjoy the rain.

Hello friends! I hope you enjoyed today’s warm temps as a large trough slips south into NorCal ending the warm dry weather. This storm will open the door and shed much of it’s moisture as it plows into a very dry air mass.  This would be a much better storm for us if the trough would deepen all the way down to the bay area. Instead we are likely only to receive up to a ¼” of rain on Wednesday.…

65.8°F Hot today, but rain is on the way. The Wednesday storm is showing signs of wimping out big time and that makes me sad.

65.8°F Hot today, but rain is on the way. The Wednesday storm is showing signs of wimping out big time and that makes me sad.

Hello friends. The Wednesday morning storm is still on its way and on schedule as expected. Rain will spread south from the northern coast on Tuesday afternoon and we are likely to wake up to rain on Wednesday. The only change that is disturbing is that the trough may not dip far enough south to support a strong surface front in Nevada County. I’ll keep following this incoming weather…
